LOS ANGELES, June 10 /PRNewswire/ — Britney Spears in association with AEG Live is bringing “The Circus Starring Britney Spears” back to North America. Currently touring Europe, Britney will return to Canada and the U.S. starting August 20, to perform in 20 cities.

“The Circus Starring Britney Spears” is a dazzling display of music, dance, magic and theatrics. With its cast of nearly 50 dancers, magicians, clowns and acrobats, and a traveling staff of over 200, the 50 million dollar extravaganza travels with an unprecedented 60 tons of equipment in 34 trucks for what has already proven to be the most electrifying musical event ever.

The Circus Starring: Britney Spears is the seventh concert tour by American singer-songwriter Britney Spears to support her sixth studio album, Circus. The tour, produced by AEG, is Spears’ first worldwide tour since The Onyx Hotel Tour in 2004. The opening act will be The Pussycat Dolls.

Britney Spears became a pop culture icon immediately after launching her recording career. Rolling Stone magazine wrote: “One of the most controversial and successful female vocalists of the 21st century,” she “spearheaded the rise of post-millennial teen pop … Spears early on cultivated a mixture of innocence and experience that broke the bank”.

She is listed by the Guinness World Records as having the “Best-selling album by a teenage solo artist” for her debut album …Baby One More Time which sold over thirteen million copies in the United States.
